Chocolate Chip Crepes Recipe
Description
Chocolate chip crepes are a delicious and decadent breakfast or snack. The combination of creamy, chocolatey goodness and light, fluffy crepes is a match made in heaven. Whether you’re making them for breakfast or dessert, these chocolate chip crepes are sure to please everyone. They’re easy to make and can be enjoyed hot or cold. Plus, they’re great for using up any leftover chocolate chips you may have.
Ingredients
For the crepes:
-1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
-2 tablespoons sugar
-2 eggs
-1 cup milk
-4 tablespoons melted butter
-Pinch of salt
-1 cup semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips
For the topping:
-1/2 cup heavy cream
-1/4 cup sugar
-Cocoa powder, for dusting
-Whipped cream (optional)
-Berries (optional)
Instructions
1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour and sugar. Add the eggs, milk, melted butter, and salt and whisk until well combined. The mixture should be the consistency of a thick pancake batter. Add the chocolate chips and stir until evenly distributed.
2. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Grease the skillet with a small amount of butter or oil. Pour about 1/4 cup of the crepe batter into the skillet, tilting the skillet to spread the batter out into a thin circle. Cook until the crepe is lightly golden on the bottom, about 2-3 minutes. Flip the crepe and cook for 1 more minute. Transfer to a plate and repeat with the remaining batter.
3. To make the topping, beat the heavy cream and sugar until stiff peaks form. Spread the whipped cream over the crepes and sprinkle with cocoa powder. Serve with fresh berries or your favorite topping, if desired.
Equipment
To make these chocolate chip crepes, you’ll need a medium bowl, whisk, non-stick skillet, and a spoon or spatula for flipping the crepes.
Notes
If you’re adding any additional mix-ins like nuts, coconut, or chopped fruit, add them after you’ve poured the crepe batter into the skillet and before you flip it. The heat from the skillet will help soften and melt the additional ingredients. You can also add them to the batter before cooking, but they may not soften as much.
