Ingredients

Instructions

For the chocolate cake layer:

  • In a medium bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the sugar and oil until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  • Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined. Add the buttermilk and vanilla extract and mix until well blended.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
