  • 2 large eggs

  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • Chocolate buttercream frosting
  • Cake decorations, such as candy and sprinkles (optional)
  • 1/2 cup melted semi-sweet chocolate

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350°F and prepare two 8-inch round cake pans by spraying them with non-stick cooking spray.

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

In a separate bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

Add the eggs one at a time, beating until incorporated.

Add the vanilla extract and mix until combined.

Alternately add the dry ingredients and the milk to the butter mixture, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients.

Stir in the chocolate chips.

Divide the batter evenly between the two prepared cake pans.

Bake the cakes for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
