Description
These chocolate chunk brownies are a classic British favourite. They are rich, gooey and oh so chocolatey. Perfect for a dinner party dessert or for a special treat. This recipe is super easy to make and you will have a plate of delicious brownies ready in no time. This recipe makes 12 large brownies, but you can easily halve the ingredients to make smaller portions.
Ingredients
For the brownies:
- 200g dark chocolate, chopped
- 200g butter
- 3 eggs
- 150g light brown sugar
- 100g plain flour
- 100g dark chocolate chips
- 100g white chocolate chips
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 180C/160C fan/gas mark 4. Grease and line a 20cm square baking tin. 2. Place the dark chocolate and butter in a heatproof bowl over a pan of simmering water. Stir until melted and combined. 3. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs and sugar together until light and fluffy. 4. Add the melted chocolate and butter to the egg mixture and stir until combined. 5. Sift in the flour and stir until just combined. 6. Fold in the dark chocolate chips. 7. Pour the mixture into the prepared tin and level out. 8. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are set and the centre still has a slight wobble. 9. Leave to cool in the tin before turning out onto a wire rack. 10. Melt the white chocolate chips in a heatproof bowl over a pan of simmering water. 11. Drizzle the melted white chocolate over the brownies and leave to set before serving.
Equipment
You will need a 20cm square baking tin, a heatproof bowl, a whisk, a wooden spoon, and a sieve.
Notes
For a more intense chocolatey flavour, you can use dark chocolate instead of white. You can also add nuts or dried fruit to the mixture if desired.

Each brownie contains around 220 calories and 10.8g of fat. They are also high in sugar, so should be enjoyed in moderation.
