Description

Craving something sweet but don’t want to take a huge amount of time in the kitchen? Chocolate crepes are the perfect solution. They’re super easy to make and full of delicious chocolate flavor. Plus, they’re incredibly versatile. You can eat them as-is, dress them up with sweet or savory toppings, or even use them as the base for a chocolate-filled cake. What’s not to love?

These chocolate crepes are made with simple ingredients. Cocoa powder gives them a rich chocolate flavor, while some melted butter and a pinch of salt bring out the sweetness. For added depth, I like to add a splash of vanilla extract and a pinch of ground cinnamon. Feel free to play around with the ingredients to suit your taste.

These crepes are best enjoyed fresh off the heat. But don’t worry if you don’t plan on eating them right away. Just wrap them up in some plastic wrap and store them in the fridge for up to a week. When you’re ready to enjoy them, just pop them in the microwave for a few seconds and you’re good to go.

Ingredients

1 cup all-purpose flour

2 tablespoons cocoa powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 cup melted butter

2 cups milk

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Pinch of ground cinnamon (optional)

Instructions

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Add the melted butter, milk, and vanilla extract and whisk until smooth. If desired, add a pinch of ground cinnamon for added flavor.

Heat a large non-stick skillet over medium heat. Once the skillet is hot, lightly grease it with some butter or cooking spray. Pour about 1/4 cup of the batter into the center of the skillet and swirl it around until it covers the entire bottom of the skillet. Cook for about 1 minute, or until the edges start to curl up and the bottom turns slightly golden brown.

Flip the crepe and cook for about 30 seconds more, or until the bottom is golden brown. Transfer the crepe to a plate and repeat with the remaining batter. Serve warm with your favorite toppings. Enjoy!

Equipment

To make this recipe, you’ll need:

– Large bowl

– Whisk

– Non-stick skillet

– Spatula

– Plate

Notes

– If the batter is too thick, add a bit more milk until it reaches a pourable consistency.
– For a healthier version, you can use whole wheat flour and low-fat milk.
– If you don’t have a non-stick skillet, you can use a regular skillet. Just make sure to grease it well with butter or cooking spray.
