Ingredients
For the cupcakes: -1/2 cup butter, softened -1/2 cup granulated sugar -1/2 cup light brown sugar -2 eggs -1 teaspoon vanilla extract -1/2 cup cocoa powder -1 teaspoon baking powder -1/2 teaspoon baking soda -1/4 teaspoon salt -1/2 cup buttermilk -1/2 cup Nutella For the frosting: -1/2 cup butter, softened -4 ounces cream cheese -1/2 cup Nutella -2 cups confectioners' sugar
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line a 12-cup muffin tin with cupcake liners. 2. In a large bowl, beat the butter and sugars together until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, until combined. Beat in the vanilla extract. 3. In a separate bowl, sift together the cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined. 4. Slowly add the buttermilk to the batter, stirring until just combined. 5. Divide the batter evenly between the 12 cupcake liners, filling each one about halfway. Drop a teaspoon of Nutella into the center of each cupcake. 6. Bake the cupcakes for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow to cool completely before frosting. 7. To make the frosting, beat the butter, cream cheese, and Nutella together until light and fluffy. Gradually add the confectioners' sugar and beat until combined. 8. Frost the cooled cupcakes with the Nutella frosting.
