Chocolate Cracknell School Recipe
Description
Chocolate cracknell is one of the most delicious treats that you can make for your family. Ingredients
For the base:
- 1 cup plain flour
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/3 cup butter
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 cup melted chocolate
- 1/4 cup desiccated coconut or crushed nuts
- 2 tablespoons caster sugar
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 180C/350F. Grease a 20cm/8 inch square baking tin with butter.
2. In a medium bowl, combine the flour, sugar, butter, and baking powder. Mix together until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
3. Press the mixture into the prepared tin and bake for 15 minutes.
4. Meanwhile, melt the chocolate in a double boiler or microwave.
5. Once the base is cooked, spread the melted chocolate over it.
6. Sprinkle the desiccated coconut or crushed nuts over the top. Sprinkle with caster sugar.
7. Bake for a further 15 minutes, or until golden brown.
8. Leave to cool before cutting into squares.

- A double boiler or microwave
Notes
This recipe can easily be doubled if you need to make a larger batch. You can also experiment with different types of chocolate or other toppings, such as dried fruit or chopped nuts.
