Description

Chocolate cinnamon buns are a delicious, indulgent treat that are perfect for a special occasion or just to satisfy a sweet craving. The combination of cinnamon, chocolate, and sweet dough make these buns irresistible. They are soft and fluffy, and the chocolate provides a nice contrast to the cinnamon flavor. They’re also easy to make, so anyone can enjoy this delightful treat.

This recipe is easy to follow and requires very minimal ingredients. Start by making the dough, which requires only butter, flour, sugar, yeast, and milk. Then, the dough is rolled out and spread with a mixture of melted chocolate and ground cinnamon, rolled up, and cut into buns. Finally, the buns are baked until golden brown. You’ll have freshly-baked, hot chocolate cinnamon buns in no time!

Ingredients

For the dough:

  • 1/2 cup (113g) butter, melted
  • 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons (25g) sugar
  • 1 teaspoon (5g) active dry yeast
  • 1 cup (240ml) warm milk

For the filling:

  • 1/2 cup (113g) butter, melted
  • 1 cup (90g) dark chocolate chips or chopped dark chocolate
  • 2 teaspoons (4g) ground cinnamon

Instructions

1. In a large bowl, combine the butter, flour, sugar, yeast, and milk. Mix until a soft dough forms.

2. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead until the dough is smooth and elastic, about 5 minutes.

3. Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover with a damp cloth. Allow the dough to rise until doubled in size, about 1 hour.

4. Once the dough has risen, turn it out onto a lightly floured surface and roll it out into a rectangle about 1/4-inch (0.6 cm) thick.

5. In a small bowl, melt the butter and dark chocolate together. Spread the butter and chocolate mixture over the dough, then sprinkle the ground cinnamon over top.

6. Roll the dough up starting from the long edge. Cut the roll into 12 equal pieces.

7. Place the buns in a greased 9x13-inch (23x33 cm) baking dish. Cover the dish with a damp cloth and allow the buns to rise for 30 minutes.

8. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

9. Bake the buns for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.

10. Allow the buns to cool before serving.
