Ingredients

- 8 lbs of pale malt extract

- 1 lb of Munich malt

- 1 lb of chocolate malt

- 1 lb of Crystal 80

- 1 lb of Caramel/Crystal 120

- 8 oz of roasted barley

- 1 lb of coconut flakes

- 2 ounces of Magnum hops

- 2 ounces of Fuggles hops

- 1 packet of Safale American yeast

- 1 cup of priming sugar

- 2-3 ounces of cocoa powder

Instructions

1. Start by bringing 2 gallons of water to a boil. Once boiling, add the pale malt extract and stir until dissolved. Bring the pot back up to a boil and add the Munich malt, chocolate malt, Crystal 80, and Caramel/Crystal 120. Boil the mixture for 60 minutes, stirring occasionally.

2. After 60 minutes, add the roasted barley and coconut flakes. Boil for an additional 15 minutes. When there is 10 minutes left, add the Magnum hops and stir. When there is 5 minutes left, add the Fuggles hops and stir.

3. Once the boil is complete, remove the pot from the heat and cool the mixture to 70-75 degrees Fahrenheit. Transfer the mixture to the fermenter and add the yeast. Place the fermenter in a cool, dark place and let it sit for 1-2 weeks until fermentation is complete.

4. Once fermentation is complete, transfer the beer to a bottling bucket. Add the priming sugar and stir until dissolved. Bottle the beer and let it condition for 2-3 weeks before serving.

5. Finally, add the cocoa powder to the beer and stir until dissolved. This will give the beer a unique chocolate flavor. Enjoy!
