You'll be able to make a batch of chocolate covered nougat in no time, and you'll be sure to have it disappear quickly!

Ingredients

For this recipe you will need the following ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 3 cups confectioners' sugar
  • 2 tablespoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups chopped peanuts
  • 24 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips

Equipment

The following equipment is also needed for this recipe:

  • A double boiler
  • A 9-inch square baking pan
  • A heatproof spatula
  • A candy thermometer
  • A large bowl
  • A rubber spatula

Instructions

Begin by lightly greasing the 9-inch square baking pan with butter. In a double boiler, melt the butter, honey and corn syrup together. Once the mixture is melted, add in the confectioners' sugar and stir until it is completely combined. Place a candy thermometer in the mixture, and stir until the temperature reaches 300 degrees. Once the mixture has reached 300 degrees, remove it from the heat and let it cool for about 10 minutes.

Once the mixture has cooled, stir in the vanilla extract and the peanuts. Pour the mixture into the prepared baking pan and spread it out evenly. Let the mixture cool for about 1 hour, or until it has hardened. Once the mixture has hardened, carefully turn it out onto a cutting board and cut into small cubes.

In the double boiler, melt the chocolate chips over medium heat, stirring frequently. Once the chocolate has melted, add the cubes of nougat and stir until they are coated with the chocolate. Using a spoon, transfer the nougat to a parchment-lined baking sheet. Let the nougat cool until the chocolate has hardened.

Once the chocolate has hardened, the chocolate covered nougat is finished and ready to be enjoyed!

Notes

If you want to give the nougat an extra crunch, add 1/2 cup of chopped peanuts to the melted chocolate before adding the nougat. You can also try adding other ingredients to the chocolate, such as dried fruit, coconut flakes or chopped nuts.

If you want to give the nougat an extra sweetness, you can drizzle melted white chocolate over the top of the nougat.

If you don't have a double boiler, you can make one by putting a heatproof bowl over a saucepan filled with a few inches of water.
